Qazvin, Iran
About a hundred years ago, two intellectuals from Qazvin named Mohammad-Mehdi Moammatadi and Mojtaba Nabavi established a rug-weaving factory called the “Etemad” Company. A large group of carpet weaving masters from Tabriz, Kashan, etc. worked in this factory and produced extraordinary rugs. Over time, the number of weavers increased and carpet weaving looms reached 450. These carpets were so high quality that they quickly gained world fame and were exported abroad. However, with the beginning of World War II, unfavorable economic conditions, and the cessation of exports to Europe, the prosperity of Qazvin rugs declined.
