Khoy Rug History

Khoy is an old city in West Azerbaijan Province, northwest of Tehran. Due to its geographical location on the Silk Road, this city provided the opportunity for the exchange of goods. Initially, Khoy rugs were marketed as Tabriz rugs and were not of good quality. In the late 20th century, with the increase in global demand, the quality of Khoy area rugs also increased and they were even in demand in foreign markets.
