Prayer(Mihrab) Design

The carpet with an altar design originates from the religious beliefs of the Iranian people. Mihrab or altar is one of the religious concepts that has a deep connection with the religious practices of ancient Iran and dates back to the era of Mithraism. Later, the prayer design carpet, which was inspired by the mihrab of the mosques, appeared in prayer mats and created a valuable place in the lives of Muslims and worshipers. Mihrab in mosques is a columned place that shows the direction of Qibla. In the same way, the carpet with a mihrab design is reminiscent of the mosques’ mihrab and the place of prostration of Muslims. In addition, the prayer carpet has patterns such as branches and leaves, vases, trees, and Quranic verses, each of which has different uses.
