Striped(Moharramat) Design

Striped design is one of the oldest motifs, which according to historians dates back to before the Achaemenid period. This design first appeared on hand-woven fabrics, then it made its way to hand-woven carpets. The Moharramat or striped design, which is also called “Qalamdani”, divides the text of the carpet into strips of various colors in the longitudinal direction, and for this reason, it looks like stripes from a distance.
In some Moharramat designs, the strips are made of two colors, white and black or navy blue and jade. For people who are not looking for medallion carpets, this design can be a good suggestion. Also, due to the absence of medallion in the center of the carpet, the design does not have a focal point and makes your living room look bigger.
