Varamin Carpet

The city of Voramin is located in Tehran province and due to being on the path of immigrants, it has accommodated various ethnic groups from Iran. Varamin hand-made rugs are divided into two groups: Ilati carpets and custom-made urban carpets. Urban weavers mostly use asymmetric knots for weaving and nomads use both symmetric and asymmetric knots according to their race.
In Varamin rugs, like most Iranian carpets, the warp and weft are made of cotton and the pile is made of wool. In most Varamin carpets, several flowers with different colors are repeated throughout the carpet, which is called Minakhani design. Other designs used are: Afshan, Shah-Abbasi, Zell al-Sultan, etc.
