What is Raj?
The term Raj in Tabriz carpet weaving means knot. Calculating the number of knots in the carpet is not a difficult task. For this purpose, it is enough to use a ruler on the back of the carpet and accurately count the number of knots in 7 cm; The carpet will tell you in its own language how exquisite it is. This counting can be done along the length and width of the carpet, but since the carpet is woven transversely, it is better to do the counting in the width of the carpet as well. Remember that the higher the number of rugs in different parts of the carpet, the higher the quality and uniformity of the carpet texture. It increased and also became court art.
The finest carpets of Iran are woven in Tabriz. The knot is hooked and symmetrical (Turkish) and in the form of two double wefts (like all areas of the Turkish tongue).
